If you feed yourself a picture of physical incompetence: I can’t stand up for myself, I’m at the mercy of whoever wants to jump me or break into my house – well, what do you think is going to happen? What was it someone said: if you think you can’t do it, you’re probably right.
Do you think this approach is going to set you up securely? Do you think you will be able to prevent some form of theft or attack carrying this attitude around with you? But, don’t dwell on past deficiencies, pick up the ball and set yourself up with some security basics. Again, three steps: realize you don't have what you need, identify what you need, go get it.
For example, your home security. Here you just need a couple of window alarms and door alarms, even a security camera, fake or real. This will put the bad guys on notice. Then, when they size up your property, it can go into the too-hard basket for them, and they’ll move on to find an easier mark. So, you do have what it takes to ensure your own security. You just need to find and use a few helpful tools.
